One of the things that struck me again and again in THE SPARK (Igniting the Creative Fire that Lives Within All of Us) was the incredible number of times the word PASSION was used.
Thought for the Day:
If you have staff (employees) who lack the PASSION for what you do… NOW is the time to ‘GET THEM OFF THE BUS’!*
In my humble opinion, you’re much better off with fewer people… with more passion… then just having a lot of ‘bodies’ around.
Be nice. Thank them for their service. Wish them well. And then get them off the bus.
*Jim Collins, author of Built to Last and Good to Great has a line that has become a great metaphor for all For Impact Organizations.
“Get the RIGHT people on the bus. Get the WRONG people off the bus. Get the RIGHT people in the RIGHT seats.”
This might not fly with ‘H.R.’, but it sure makes great sense as you evaluate your TALENT.
