Day 33: Ignite The Creative Fire!!!

B2A FOR IMPACT TRAINING
I just spent some wonderful time with Mary Hawks-Greene, President of Burren College of Art, in Detroit, Michigan, USA.
She’s a creative and visionary superstar… who is going to make the proverbial Quantum Leap with the College!
Somehow, Mary and I started talking about red hot ‘TALENT’… both externally (Advisors and Board) as well as internally (Directors and Staff).
That led to a quick synapse jump for the Old Guy to CIRQUE DU SOLEIL. That, in turn, led to a terrific book that should be able to help all of our B2A Artists and Creative Directors (that’s every one of you!) IGNITE THE CREATIVE FIRE!
Before I share the book and a couple of thoughts with you, I just wanted to challenge you on DAY 33 (You know how much I love the number ‘3’!) to be way, way, way more CREATIVE!!! Not just creative with your performances or your festivals or your exhibitions or your programs… but way, way, way more CREATIVE with FUNDING, PROSPECTS, SPONSORS, REVENUE STREAMS, and INVESTMENTS!!!
The book is THE SPARK by Lyn Heyward and John U. Bacon. It’s a terrific book on creativity and talent. I truly believe you’ll love this book, filled with ideas and nuggets and inspiration.
Note: I will send a free copy of this book (via Amazon) to anyone who takes the time to email me (tom@forimpact.org with a copy to B2A) with thoughts, feedback, results, or stories from your first 33 days.
Here are some powerful words in the Forward by Guy Laliberté, who’s Founder and CEO of Cirque Du Soleil.
“THE SPARK unveils a variety of simple ways by which anyone can become more creative, see greater possibilities and create his or her own vision for the future. (With more than 3,000 full-time employees, artisans, technicians and managers around the world.) From their great expectations and magnificent dreams, creative products have emerged.
They have learned to surrender to their senses, trust their instincts, take risks, and meet new challenges in an artistic and nurturing environment.
The work alone and they work together… learning to connect with and touch people in new ways, endeavoring always to re-invent themselves.
And they aspire to give back to the world in the endless continuum of change, exchange, and renewal. They are catalysts.”
“From a tiny spark, a great fire was kindled and its flames warmed the world…”
