As always, you two say it the way it is. Get out of the office! It's clear, concise and uncluttered.

This is great stuff, I have been in sales in the for-profit world for15 years before I got into the non-profit world. I can't believe how many people are so affraid of the word sales, and the whole though of going to make a cold call and building a relationship, they are affraid of people............
the proplem is "NOTHING HAPPENS UNTIL SOMEONE SELLS SOMETHING"

Love the post.

Its shocking, but not surprising, that sales isn't widely taught in MBA programs. The bias that sales is somehow "dirty," not worthy of research, something that you are born with, not something that can be taught, contribute to this fact I think. On a personal level, it reveals our prejudice against sales - that unless you are a rude "sales guy" you can't sell successfully. Who wants to be that person? But, as you say, truly successful sales people and sales strategies are built on listening, passion and planning; in your words Discovery, Sharing the Story and Authenticity.

For the record, MIT's Sloan School IS teaching sales as a for-credit course: 15.387 Technology Sales and Sales Management
